Compared to other guitars from this production run, there are two advantages;
1- The bridge has a metal frame on the bottom which protects the bridge if pressed from the top side during transportation.  Other bridges in this production run were made of would only.
2- The natural maple pattern on back of the neck is unusually beautiful and makes this a unique instrument. Also the neck is exceptionally good in therms of playability and overall straightness contributing to no abnormal buzzing from any frets.
This new guitar has some minor "bright" marks on the matte finish pointed out by arrows in the pictures. These are not scratches. They are parts of the finish which if you shine the light from a particular angle look brighter. I've taken multiple pictures so you can see how they look in different lighting situations. When you purchase a new guitar from a store, almost every guitar would have more minor imperfections than this. But since this is online, we like you to know all the details about the item you are buying.

The major differences  between KALA import U-bass SUB and KAM mini-bass SUB (Solid body Ukulele Bass) are explained here as requested by ebay members:
1- Kala body shape has a bit more rounded edges and KAM mini-bass has slightly more geometrically shaped edges.
2- KAM mini-bass has a bit higher output level.
3- Kala SUB body is made of Poplar, KAM mini-bass is made of Bass wood.
4- The lower cut-out on the body of KAM Mini-bass gives easy access to one more fret on the neck.
5- KALA uses their proprietary "Black strings", and KAM use Aquila Nylgut "White" strings, from the Italian company which invented Ukulele bass strings.
6- KAM Mini-Bass has a dedicated battery compartment in the back which you can open to change batteries without having to use a screw driver

KAM Mini Bass produces the same pitches as a standard bass guitar using a short scale neck. It is tuned like a typical bass: E-A-D-G. Nylgut strings produce a tone close to upright basses which makes this instrument a must have for bass players who want a flexible and very portable instrument with a unique sound.  Solid body design eliminates feedback in live situations and hand-picked bass wood provides perfect resonance for this type of instrument.
The KAM high output piezo pickup system is capable of providing high output which can be used to activate the limiter incorporated in most bass amps. Activating the limiter in bass amps provides a form of compression which not only adds to the sustain, but provides a punchy attack and a very pleasing tone.  With some bass amps equipped with gain control, high gain settings can be used to produce distortion in the tone.
A dedicated battery compartment eliminates the need to open the controls cavity with tools for changing the battery.
The slim and easy to play maple neck is not painted so that years of playing will not wear-out the paint and your instrument will retain its attractive looks even after becoming road-worn.
KAM Mini Bass is strung with Nylgut strings which provide a very pleasant feel, superb playability, and amazing tone. Nylgut strings provide a tone close to old style strings made of animal guts used years ago on upright basses, but with no reaction to humidity.

A 9 volt battery is used for the preamp. Unplugging the output cable when the instrument is not played, turns the pre-amp off to conserve the battery.
